Engraving Vinyle adhésif sans PVC at 1 mm with a Trotec SP1500

This page describes a laser engraving setting published for Vinyle adhésif sans PVC at 1 mm, tested on a Trotec SP1500 fitted with a CO2 400W source (10,600 nm CO2, 400 W). It states the exact machine, source, material, thickness and operation of the test; power, speed and number of passes are shown with a Premium pass.

Why those four facts matter: a engraving setting that works on Vinyle adhésif sans PVC at 1 mm does not transfer to another thickness, nor to another source. A 10,600 nm CO2 rated 400 W does not deposit the same energy as a stronger module, and the speed has to be adjusted accordingly. Copying a number without checking those four points is the first cause of a ruined part.

Published by LaserSettings (estimation). No other workshop has confirmed it yet: treat it as a starting point, and confirm it from your account if you reproduce it.

No photo comes with this setting yet. If you reproduce it, publish yours from your account: a picture of the result is worth more than a line of numbers.

Recommended routine before running the part: clean the lens, redo the focus, engrave a small test grid on an offcut of the same Vinyle adhésif sans PVC, then adjust the speed rather than the power. Work with fume extraction and air assist, wear glasses rated for 10,600 nm CO2, and never leave the machine unattended.

About Trotec machines

Trotec is an Austrian builder of CO2, fibre and flexx machines (two sources in one enclosure) aimed at professional production. The flexx models can engrave metal and plastic in the same job, with two distinct sets of settings for a single file.

What to know about Vinyle adhésif sans PVC

PVC-free adhesive films (polypropylene or polyester) let you cut stickers and stencils with a laser safely. The word "vinyl" on the label is not enough: you need the "PVC-free" statement.

The whole point is the kiss-cut: through the film and its adhesive without cutting the backing paper. That needs a very fine setting, found with a rising-power test grid on an offcut.

Work at high speed and minimum power. The film is thin: a few percent too much power and the backing is cut through.

Molten adhesive can redeposit on the edge: high speed and air assist markedly reduce that tackiness.

A PVC-free film releases no chlorine, but burnt adhesive smokes and smells strongly: extraction needed. The backing paper ignites easily if power is too high.

Never run an unknown film, even sold as "cutting vinyl": most sign-making vinyls are PVC.

After cutting, let the sheet cool before peeling the stickers, otherwise the still-warm adhesive stays on the backing.
